Students Face Dogs in Last Round of One Day Cricket
It’s first versus third on the Club Championship this Saturday as Uni hosts Footscray in the final round of white ball cricket for the season.
FIRST XI
After a dominant display last week, the First XI will be chock full of confidence as they take on a strong Footscray line-up at the Uni Main this Saturday. The Students boast a particularly strong one-day record, and will be keen to see this continue as they don the coloured clothes for the final time in the season. Entering the contest with an unchanged team, expect big things from Peter Hatzoglou. Only in his third First XI match, the Hellenic tweaker has been impressive, and loves bowling in limited overs cricket.

SECOND XI
With the return of Mark Simpson, for the first time in 2020, the Second XI will be keen to avenge their disappointing loss last week, as they travel to Mervyn Hughes Oval to take on the Dogs. With a strong all-round team, the Students will be confident they can earn another win against the third-placed Footscray. It’s Yousaf Iqbal you’re going to have to keep an eye out for in the twos this week; the Italian Stallion is as stylish as they come and will be rocking a navy pair of Ray-Bans as he stands at second slip. His hard-hitting and valuable leg-spin will inevitably come in handy on the weekend.

THIRD XI
Back at Princes Park after the Christmas break, the Third XI will be looking to make it two from two in 2020, as they host Footscray. Currently on top of the ladder with four wins from their last four matches, this week shapes as crucial if the Third XI are to entrench themselves in the top two coming into the pointy end of the season. Saturday also sees the return of the double-door fridge, Jacob Stevenson from a stint in the Second XI, adding some potency to an already strong bowling line-up. Hugo Bienvenu will be the one to watch at PP3, having spent the Summer getting clients to work out as a personal trainer, Hugo is poised to give the Dogs a working over, the stylish left-hander looking likely for a breakout score.

FOURTH XI
After a close loss last weekend, the Fourth XI can be confident of a strong performance this weekend, as they travel to Tony Dodemaide Oval. It will be in the shadows of Victoria University that Laban Ditchburn and his Fourth XI Students will be looking to claim their second win of the season. While it was Om Patel who dominated last weekend, look for Ned Bennett to spin a web this weekend. On a notoriously spin-friendly wicket, the Camberwell Grammarian will be looking to make the most of his school holidays with a bag of wickets on Saturday.
