Reidy reaches 150 game milestone

Steven Reid will play his 150th Premier Cricket First XI match on Sunday, when the Students take on Melbourne in Round Three at the Uni Main from 11.00am.

Having crossed from Essendon to debut for MUCC in the 2013/14 season, Steve has played 79 matches with the Melbourne University 1st XI. In this time, he has represented the Club with distinction, having taken 149 wickets at the impressive average of 23. Taking the new ball for MUCC since joining the club, Reid has also collected three 5-wicket-hauls, with an outstanding best bowling of 6/52, coming last year against Prahran in a match-winning performance.

In addition to his accomplished performances as a First-Grade cricketer, Reid has also been recognised for higher honours, having been part of the Bushrangers’ State Squad over many years, and representing Victoria at both underage and Futures League levels.

While his on-field performances command respect and recognition, Steve’s off-field work has been equally impressive. Having taken on the role of strength and conditioning coach of the Club in 2015/16, Reid has worked closely alongside Antony Keely and the rest of the coaching staff to ensure the whole squad is able to perform at their best on match days. That he was asked to take on this added responsibility is a testament to the professionalism and dedication he brings to every aspect of his cricket.

The whole Club is extremely proud of Steve and can’t wait to watch him lead our bowling attack and 2km time trials for many years to come.

Best of luck on the weekend!
