MUCC Talks Keeps Cricketers Connected

While Melbourne University cricketers remain in lockdown, the Club is taking steps to ensure both players, and MUCC’s wider network remain connected through this difficult time, with their successful innovation, MUCC Talks.

Held on Zoom (like everything else), MUCC Talks gives players, alumni and supporters alike the chance to engage in a “fireside chat” of sorts, with some of the biggest names in Australian cricket; who naturally have both an association with and affection for MUCC.

Two episodes have been held thus far, the most recent including former Cricket Australia CEO, James Sutherland, the ICC’s General Manger of Cricket, Geoff Allardice, and Cricket NSW Chair, John Knox. The trio are all former MUCCers, and it was fantastic to have in excess of 90 people join the call to hear their stories, and reflect on happier times.

Dailed in; Ep.2 from last week

The series has also included quips from high-profile recruit, Simon Mackin, who, assuming his work with the ball is as smooth as it is behind the mic, will be an incredibly exciting prospect on a green Uni Main wicket come the start of the season.

MUCC Talks is set to continue in the coming weeks, with current Australian Men’s coach, Justin Langer poised to join the program. Langer, who will be heading to the UK with the Australian side as they embark on their first series since the pandemic put a halt to international sport, will be able to provide valuable insight to the state of the game and its recovery in the wake of COVID-19.

We will continue to share information on how you can join in the series, and hope to see you either in person or on Zoom sometime soon.
